Shpongle
So recently I've enlightened some people to the wonders of Shpongle. This cross genre project(?) is made up of Simon Posford, of Hallucinogen [to be added later btw], and Raja Rams, from some other shit that ill add in later as well, and a few other people they pick up to play the myriad of instruments involved. Anyway the premise of their music is pretty much trip balls and convert it to music and its awesome. They throw in ethnic style precussion with violins, guitars, marimbas, harps, some other shit and then on top of all that they have some crazy trance shit going on as well.
Each of the albums is amazing as well, the first, Are you Shpongled, feels exactly like the first album of any band should feel like. It is a very ambient album that introduces the listener to the style that is all their own. Also DMT is on that album and its a fucking unreal song. The second, Tales of the Inexpressible, builds on that foundation but explores the element of world music more so than the first, "My Head feels like a Frisbee" turns into a salsa about halfway through, "Dorset Perception" features a very latinesque guitar, "Around the world in a tea daze" will... well it will send you around the world in some kind of a daze... anyway MOVING ON, the third studio album is "Nothing lasts... but nothing is lost" it revolves around this dude named william blake, look him up in wikipedia, kinda and is 20 tracks that flow into each other to make 1 long song thats broken up into like 3 parts with 8 movements or some shit its supposed to also be a dream sequence or something as well too, I don't know but its got killer bass lines and its very hard to not listen to the whole album all the way through (winamp visualizer and a blunt or 2 helps) but yea. They also have a new album that I've listened through but I havent learned it well enough to write about it but its pretty sweet[totally not a cop out, I wanna go see that sometime...] ANYWAY
